Flair works when you want guests to watch the bartender as well as order a drink. For a quiet hotel dinner, speeches or a reception where conversation is the priority, ordinary cocktail service is often the more useful choice.
Give the performance a suitable place and time
Check the working area, ceiling, lighting and distance from guests before choosing flair. A bar tucked into a narrow corner may serve drinks perfectly well but offer little room or visibility for performance.
Decide whether flair belongs during the reception, at an agreed moment or after dinner. It should not interrupt a speaker or make guests wait while they need a straightforward drink. The event brief should distinguish the performance requirement from the staffing needed to serve the full guest count.
