Preparation and judgement show more than a job title. A guest-facing bartender should understand the drinks, keep the station orderly and serve clearly without making guests or the organiser manage the process.
Look for the working standard
The dress brief matters, but so do clean working habits, accurate orders and knowing when to keep service quiet. A formal dinner does not need the same level of visible performance as a party where the bar is part of the entertainment.
Before the event, give the team the menu, timings, room plan and contact responsible for changes. Good service is easier to sustain when supplies and duties are settled rather than improvised in front of guests.
