Bartender hire guide

How to Choose a Bartender Company for Your Event

A bartender can make the drinks side feel effortless. The wrong booking leaves the host answering questions, finding equipment and wondering whether the person they paid will actually arrive. The difference is rarely found in a glossy promise. It is found in the details confirmed before money changes hands.

The first check

Start with the room, not the sales pitch.

Bartender hire is the right fit when the event already has a workable bar, counter, kitchen island or service point. The bartender arrives early enough to prepare it, keeps drinks moving through the service hours and leaves the host free to enjoy the event.

If the room has nowhere suitable to serve from, the answer is usually mobile bar hire. If you want the bar, ingredients, ice and glassware supplied together, look at the all-in-one packages. A good company should tell you which service fits instead of pushing the largest option.

Before you compare prices

Five questions make a weak quote show itself.

  1. Who is actually attending? Ask whether the company already knows and works with the bartender, or whether it will advertise the shift after taking your payment.
  2. What is included? Staffing, service hours, travel, preparation time and any equipment should be clear before you book.
  3. How was the staffing decided? Guest numbers, arrival time, the drinks being served and the length of service all affect the pressure on the bar.
  4. What must be ready at the venue? Confirm the service point, ingredients, ice, glassware, access and space the bartender will have to work in.
  5. What happens if someone becomes unavailable? The answer should be a real operational plan, not a hopeful promise made by a salesperson.

Why quotes differ

Cocktailhire is not the cheapest quote.

If you are comparing on price alone, we will save you time: you will not find the lowest figure here.

Some low-cost suppliers fill events through public work forums or citywide social groups. The company selling the booking may never have worked with the person arriving. Cocktailhire does not operate that way. We use our own team, pay them properly and protect every confirmed event we accept.

We have attended every confirmed event we have ever taken. The premium is for that certainty: a capable bartender who is known to us, understands event service and has a reason to treat your booking as a commitment rather than an option.

What good service looks like

The host should not become the bar manager.

The bartender should arrive before service begins, learn the room, organise the working area and make sure the first drinks can be served at the time you chose. Guests should know where to go, the surface should stay controlled and the host should not be pulled away to find bottles, glasses or tools.

That does not mean every event needs a complicated setup. A kitchen island can be enough. A simple drinks menu can be the right decision. The point is that the service has been considered before guests arrive, rather than improvised once a queue forms.

When cocktails are part of the booking, clients choose from the existing Cocktailhire menu. The event menu is built from those selections, and the shopping list follows the drinks and guest numbers entered into the booking.

What you need to provide

A bartender-only booking keeps the division clear.

You provide the usable service point and the items shown on the Cocktailhire shopping list. That normally means the chosen drinks, enough ice, suitable glassware and access to the area in time for preparation.

You do not need to guess quantities. The booking system builds the shopping list around the event details and selected drinks. Following that list matters, especially for ice and juice, because a bartender cannot serve an evening properly with half the stock the guest numbers require.

If you would rather not buy and organise those items, the all-in-one package exists for exactly that reason. It is an alternative service, not an upgrade every client is expected to take.

How to book

See the real figure before deciding.

Start with the date and service times, then add the address and guest numbers. The booking system checks availability, calculates the figure and lets you view the cocktail menu before you decide whether to continue.

If everything is clear, you can book online. If you have questions, schedule a callback. A callback is only a conversation; the date is secured only when the booking is paid for.

Common questions

Before you choose the company

Does bartender hire include a physical bar?

No. Bartender hire assumes the room already has a workable service point. Choose mobile bar hire if the event needs the physical bar too.

Will Cocktailhire create a new drinks menu for my event?

No. You choose drinks from the existing Cocktailhire menu, and your event menu is built from those selections.

Does scheduling a callback reserve the date?

No. A callback means you have questions or want to speak to a real person. Nothing is booked until the booking is paid for.

Why is Cocktailhire more expensive than some bartender quotes?

The price protects a known, properly paid team and a confirmed booking. Cocktailhire has attended every confirmed event it has accepted.
