Plan a garden party bar for heat, rain and uneven demand.

A summer garden party needs two plans at the same time: the service guests are meant to see and the practical backup that keeps the bar working if the weather changes. Sun affects ice, refrigeration, garnishes and staff comfort. Rain affects flooring, power, access and whether guests suddenly move into a smaller indoor space.

Choose a stable bar position

The bar needs a level surface, safe access, suitable lighting and enough room for guests to approach without crossing the working side. It should have shade where possible and should not sit beneath a tree or structure that can drop debris into the service area. Any electrical supply must be appropriate for outdoor use and protected through the route from the building.

Write down the weather fallback

Confirm whether the bar can remain under cover, move to a second agreed position or continue from an indoor service point. The fallback must still provide working space, water access, refrigeration or ice storage, waste handling and a safe guest route. Moving a fully stocked bar during service is not a sensible substitute for an agreed rain plan.

Match the service to what the host is supplying

Build the menu and quantities from the real schedule
