Cocktail service can work in a barn or country house when the bar position, access and working facilities are agreed. The building's character does not tell you whether its existing bar is usable or what an outside team can bring.
Check the actual room and the route from unloading to service. Narrow doors, uneven paths, changes of level and separate reception rooms can matter more than the size of the building. A barn wedding might use an outdoor reception area before guests move indoors. The plan needs a suitable drinks position for both periods, including a weather fallback, rather than assuming the same counter can serve everywhere.
