Put it somewhere guests can find and approach without blocking the rest of the event. A bar beside the only doorway, narrow catering route or busy kitchen entrance may look convenient on an empty plan but become awkward once people gather.
Allow for the people around the counter
Mark the bar frontage, working space, storage and likely waiting area on the room plan. Check sightlines and circulation alongside the practical access, cleaning and any equipment-specific power needs.
Think about how the room changes: arrivals, dinner finishing and the dance floor opening can shift where guests stand. Keep glass collection and replenishment routes workable during those periods. If the existing counter forces staff or guests into a bottleneck, discuss another position or a mobile bar rather than assuming the first available surface is the best one.
- Keep entrances, exits and supplier routes clear.
- Assess the bar with guests and working storage included in the layout.
