Cocktail maker, bartender or mixologist: which one do you need?
The names overlap. The job you need usually does not. Look at two things: what guests will be drinking and whether the room already has somewhere practical to serve it.
Cocktail Maker
Choose a cocktail maker when cocktails are the point of the booking and the room already has a kitchen island, table or service surface. You choose the drinks from the existing Cocktailhire menu; the cocktail maker prepares those choices and keeps the host out of the job.
Bartender
Choose a bartender when the drinks list is broader than cocktails. Beer, wine, spirits, mixers and cocktails all need one organised bar service. The job is less about theatre and more about keeping a mixed drinks service moving properly.
Mixologist
Choose a mixologist when the cocktail side needs more depth in balance, presentation and pace. The drinks still come from the existing Cocktailhire menu; the difference is specialist cocktail knowledge and the standard expected in front of guests.
The quickest way to decide
- Cocktails are the main event and a serving surface already exists: cocktail maker.
- The bar will serve beer, wine, spirits and mixed drinks as well as cocktails: bartender.
- The booking calls for a cocktail specialist and a more considered level of preparation and presentation: mixologist.
No one earns your booking by choosing the grandest title. The right service is the one that matches the room, drinks and guest numbers. The three pages above show current starting prices, minimum hours, working space and what is included.
