All-In-One Cocktail Package vs Hiring Bartenders Only

When a full cocktail package is better than bartender-only hire, and when bartenders only may be enough.

Bartender-only hire supplies the staff and their working bartender tools. You or your venue provide a suitable bar or counter, drinks ingredients, ice and glassware unless your written quote includes those items. An all-in-one cocktail package includes the bar, staff, package drinks ingredients, ice and bar-service glassware together.

Why this matters

The real event picture behind this question

If your venue has a usable bar and your caterer is supplying the drinks, ice and glasses, you may simply need our bartenders to run the service. They bring their working tools; you do not need to buy a second bartender kit. If nobody is supplying the bar, stock or glasses, those arrangements still need to be made. A staff-only booking does not quietly add them.

That is why this topic belongs inside the all-in-one package silo. The buyer is not just asking about a drink, a bartender or a bar unit. They are trying to understand whether the whole drinks side can be handled without becoming another job for them, their family, their office team or whoever drew the short straw for planning the event.

For private parties, birthdays, garden parties and work events, the host usually wants the same relief: guests served properly, a bar that looks like it belongs there, and a setup that does not leave them disappearing into the kitchen, garage, office store room or back garden to solve drinks problems.

How the package handles it

What the all-in-one route changes

Choose the all-in-one package when you want us to bring the bar and supplies as well as the team. You choose drinks from the existing Cocktailhire menu, and we bring the package ingredients for those selections. The optional ingredient itinerary tells you what we are bringing; it is not a shopping list for you to buy. Guests have a staffed place to order, and you can stay with them instead of organising deliveries and replacement ice.

The core package puts the cocktail bar, bartenders, ingredients, ice, working equipment, bar-service glassware, setup, live service, glass collection and close-down into one service setup. Pricing starts from Tier 1 at £6.25 per person, per hour, with Tier 2 at £7.50 and Tier 3 at £8.75 per person, per hour. The minimum booking is 50 guests for 4 hours.

Staffing and bar setup are treated as part of the package, not as optional decoration. A useful planning rule is 1 bartender per 50 guests and 1.5 metres of bar for every 100 guests. Those numbers are not there to make the quote look grand. They are there because guests only feel the package once service starts.

Decisions

What to decide before booking

  • Confirm a usable bar or counter for a staff-only booking.
  • Name who supplies the ingredients, ice and glassware; put any extras in the quote.
  • Give the full guest count and live service hours.
  • Choose the package if you want us to supply the bar and package ingredients too.

Avoid

Common mistakes

  • Assuming working bartender tools also means a physical bar, drinks or glassware.
  • Leaving the ingredients and ice without an agreed supplier.
  • Buying the package ingredients again after reading the optional itinerary.
  • Comparing a staff-only price with a package before checking what each includes.

Fit check

When this is the right package lane

This is the right route when the host wants a complete cocktail bar service for a private party, birthday, house party, garden event, work party, office celebration, marquee or hosted occasion. It is especially useful when the host does not want to buy stock, hire glassware, build a bar, brief staff and manage the bar service personally.

It is not the right lane for every search. Wedding packages have their own wedding-specific route. Bartender-only hire is better when the setup is already built and you only need skilled staff. Mobile bar hire is better when you only need the bar structure. Drinks brand activation work sits in the commercial brand silo because that has different goals around brand service, content and reporting.

Before you enquire

The details that make the package quote useful

The fastest way to get a useful answer is to send the facts that shape the bar on the night: the date, town or postcode, guest count, service hours, event setting and whether the bar is indoors, outdoors or moving between both. Those details matter more than a long description of the party because they decide the practical shape of the service.

If the event is at home, tell us what part of the house or garden you imagine becoming the bar. If it is at work, tell us whether the room is an office floor, reception space, boardroom, warehouse, rooftop or hired event room. If it is in a marquee, garden or field, tell us about access, ground, cover, power and water. The package can be simple for the host, but the setup still needs enough real information to be planned properly.

It also helps to say what you are trying to avoid. Some hosts want to stop the kitchen becoming the bar. Some want their office team to stop pouring drinks badly from a trestle table. Some want a birthday party to feel more special without becoming formal. Some simply want one supplier to own the whole drinks side, so the event does not turn into a list of separate jobs.

Why the full package exists

The host is buying calm, not just cocktails

A cocktail package is easy to misunderstand if it is judged only by the drinks list. The drinks matter, but the real value is that the event has a drinks operation that works from the first order to the final glass collection. Guests see a proper bar. Bartenders have the equipment they need. The host is not pulled into stock, ice, glassware, queues or questions every few minutes.

That is why the all-in-one package should not be compared only against the price of bottles, the cost of one bartender, or the hire price of a mobile bar. Those are pieces of the service. The package is the joined-up version: the thing that makes the room feel hosted and keeps the person who booked it inside the party rather than behind it.

The best version of this service feels almost boringly controlled to the host. The bar is there, the menu is clear, guests are served, used glasses disappear, and the bar service does not keep asking for attention. That is the point. A good package gives the event energy without giving the host a second job.

FAQs

Short answers

When is bartender-only hire enough?

When you need staff to run an existing bar or suitable counter and you or your venue can supply the drinks ingredients, ice and glassware. Our bartenders bring their working tools; any wider equipment or supply must be included in your written quote.

When should I choose the package?

Choose the all-in-one package when you want the physical bar, team, package ingredients, ice and bar-service glassware supplied together, rather than arranging those parts separately.

Can Cocktailhire still quote bartender-only?

Yes. Tell us the event date, location, full guest count and service hours, plus what your venue or caterer is already supplying. We can quote the staff separately without adding a full package.

Do I need to buy bartender tools?

No. The working bartender tools needed for live service are included in bartender hire. A physical bar, drinks ingredients, ice and glassware are separate unless your quote includes them.
